Closure Order Rescinded for Road to Umpqua Hot Springs

Roseburg, OR, March 20, 2026 — Umpqua National Forest announces that the winter closure that impacted National Forest Service Road #3401, road to Umpqua Hot Springs, has officially been rescinded. Closure Order No. 06-15-03-26-01 which was put in place following a winter storm on January 5, 2026 has been lifted following improved weather and road conditions.

The re-opening is authorized under Termination Order No. 06-15-03-26-01, which has been signed and is in effect as of today, March 20, 2026.

With easier access to the Umpqua Hot Springs, all visitors should be aware of the Umpqua Hot Springs Day-use Rules and Regulations. The area of the Umpqua Hot Springs is designated day-use only. Prohibited actions in or around the Umpqua Hot Springs include:

  • Being in the area after sundown or before sunrise
  • Camping
  • Parking or leaving a vehicle in violation of posted instructions

Beginning April 1, visitors are reminded that Umpqua Hot Springs Trailhead will transition to cashless collections. Those wishing to recreate at the Umpqua Hot Springs will need to display their America the Beautiful pass on their car dashboard/hangtag or download the Recreation.gov app, create an account, and input a valid form of payment BEFORE heading out on their adventure.
