Developed Recreation Sites Move to Cashless Fee Collections

ROSEBURG, Ore., Feb. 2, 2026 – Starting April 1, 2026, all Umpqua National Forest-operated developed recreation sites will transition to cashless fee collections through Scan & Pay or reservations through Recreation.gov. Scan & Pay allows visitors to pay on their mobile device for first-come, first-served campsites or activities via a QR code, instead of with cash or checks. The new Scan & Pay feature will occur at campgrounds, trailheads, showers, RV dump stations, boat ramps, and picnic day use areas across the Forest. 

Campgrounds on the reservation system, will be Scan & Pay for first-come, first-serve sites. Recreation sites transitioning to Scan & Pay are in a list below. Although April 1 is the start date for Scan & Pay, some recreation sites may not open until a later date. Once open, they will be Scan & Pay and will no longer accept cash or check. 

With limited or no cell service across the Forest, visitors will need to download the Recreation.gov app and add a valid payment method before heading out on their adventure. After arriving at a recreation site or open campsite, locate the nearest information board and scan the provided QR code using the same mobile device that has the Recreation.gov app. After paying, visitors should write down and display their confirmation code on their car dashboard or campsite post. At recreation sites with no cell service, the payment will be noted as ‘pending’ with the payment going through once service is restored. 

Sites that are being managed by WESTrek Concessionaire will continue to take cash, be on the reservation system or will now have the option for Scan & Pay. WESTrek begins summer recreation operations on select campgrounds including Boulder Flat, Toketee Lake, Island and White Creek Campgrounds on May 22, 2026.
