Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV)

Enjoy our forest roads and OHV trail systems, generally open June through late October, that provide access to lakes, streams, old growth forests, historical features and fresh mountain air. Huckleberry Flats has 65 miles of easiest to most difficult trails. Santiam Pass OHV Area has 53 miles of easiest to most difficult trails and shared use roads in the High Cascades. McCoy Motorized Recreation Area is a shared-use road system comprised of approximately 50 miles of easiest to roads that are more difficult.

Know before you go and refer to the Motor Vehicle Use Map for roads open to OHV use. Check on trail and weather conditions and know the rules of the OHV area.

There are no OHV-only campgrounds on the Willamette National Forest. 

OHV Road Riding

OHV Camping

There are no OHV-only campgrounds on the Willamette National Forest. Big Lake Campground is adjacent to the Santiam Pass OHV Area and serves those seeking a variety of recreational pursuits. OHVs may not be ridden in Big Lake Campground or any other developed campground except for ingress and egress from/to established campsites from/to an adjacent designated trail.  

Dispersed camping is permitted throughout the forest, including near the Huckleberry Flats OHV and Santiam Pass OHV Area. Refer to our Dispersed Camping Guidelines page for additional information about where and how to disperse camp.
