Duncan Ridge Road reopens following culvert replacement project

The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest has reopened Duncan Ridge Road (FSR 39) following completion of culvert replacement work at Mulky Creek on the Blue Ridge Ranger District. 

The project replaced an aging culvert at the creek crossing to improve long-term road reliability, protect water quality and support healthier watershed conditions in the area. The upgraded crossing is designed to better withstand heavy rain events while also improving aquatic organism passage through Mulky Creek. 

While the road is now fully reopened to vehicle traffic, visitors are asked to avoid using the nearby dispersed campsite adjacent to the project area until soil stabilization and vegetation growth are fully established. The temporary closure of the campsite will help protect restoration efforts and reduce the risk of erosion or resource damage while the disturbed area recovers. 

Visitors traveling in the Duncan Ridge area should continue using caution around the project site and follow any posted signs or barriers associated with the restoration area.
