    The Alum Wildfire was reported Sunday, April 12, on the Daniel Boone National Forest along State Highway 700 (Alum Road) between Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and Highway 27 in McCreary County. As of April 30, 2026, the Alum Wildfire is 100% contained.

    Local resources will continue to monitor the area until the fire has been deemed fully out.

    State Highway 700 (Alum Road), Yahoo Falls Road and associated recreation areas, including the impacted section of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail, have reopened. Alum Trail is the only remaining recreation closure from this incident.
