Hunting, Fishing and Shooting

The Kisatchie is located in Louisiana - Sportsman's Paradise! There is plenty of top-notch hunting and fishing on the forest.

Lake and Pond Fishing

Some impressive trophy fish have been caught in Kisatchie's lakes and ponds.

Hunting

Hunting is allowed throughout the Kisatchie National Forest, as long as it is at least 150 yards from any designated recreation campground or trail. The Kisatchie has two National Wildlife Management Preserves that require a special season permit (free) to hunt in those areas. We follow all Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries hunting regulations.

Recreational and Target Shooting

At this time, Kisatchie National Forest does not have a designated shooting range. However, target shooting and siting in a gun are allowed on the national forest, but we ask that you follow all safety measures, being at least 150 yards from any trail or recreation area. Having a berm behind you is best. Do not shoot at glass or trees. And pick up all shell casings and targets when done.
