Marienville Ranger District

The Marienville Ranger District covers the southern half of the Allegheny National Forest. Highlights of this area include the Penoke, Marienville, & Timberline OHV trails, Wild and Scenic Clarion River, and Buzzard Swamp.

Hidden gems on this district include the Little Drummer Trail, Laurel Mill Trail, and Beaver Meadows.

Directions:

From Marienville

  • Travel northeast on PA-66 for 1.6 miles
  • Turn right onto Smokey Lane.
  • The office is located at the end of the road.

Passes & Permits

Fuelwood permits are available at this location. Contact the Ranger Station for information about Special Use Permits for large group events (75 people or more).

Interagency and Forest recreation passes are sold at this location. Visit the passes and permits section for information on what passes are available.

As a visitor to the National Forest, you are asked to follow certain rules designed to protect the Forest, natural resources and to provide for public safety of visitors. These rules are available to you online or at any office of the Allegheny National Forest. Please take time to read and understand them. General Topic orders apply across the Forest.

Complexes

In 1992 (Public Law 102-271) added 87 miles of the Allegheny River to the National Wild & Scenic River System classified as Recreational. The goal is to protect the existing outstanding and remarkable values and preserve a free-flowing condition for present and future generations.
