Trail work and picnic area improvements at Morgan Falls/St. Peter's Dome Recreation Area this fall

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest has partnered with Trout Unlimited to improve the St. Peter's Dome and Morgan Falls Recreation Area parking area and the St. Peter’s Dome trail.

The St. Peter’s Dome trail has experienced erosion, and the project will rehabilitate the trail by placing rocks, resurfacing, and creating short trail re-routes. The project will also convert the trailhead parking lot island to a low maintenance picnic area. This includes eliminating grass and weeds, adding topsoil, planting native plants, shrubs, and trees, and installing gravel trails and picnic table pads. 

The trailhead and trail will remain open during construction, but hikers may encounter active trail work, staged equipment, and construction traffic around the trailhead.
