Occupancy and Use Prohibitions 
TONGASS NATIONAL FOREST 
Sitka Ranger District
Order No. 10-05-31-26-10

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.53 (e)(f), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System (“NFS”) within the administrative boundaries of the Tongass National Forest. 

PROHIBITIONS 
It is prohibited to go into or be in the Harbor Mountain area which is closed or restricted for the protection of sensitive property. Exhibit A. displays the area to be closed to entry. 

EXEMPTIONS 

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from the Order:

     1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force 
          in the performance of an official duty. 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e)(4).

IMPLEMENTATION

     1.  This Order is effective from __June 25____, 2026 until further notice.

     2.  These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.

     3.   A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not
           more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not
           more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.
