Plan Revision Public Engagements
We want to create opportunities for open communication and collaboration of ideas about the direction for the new Forest Plan. Engaging in meaningful dialogue throughout the process will be essential to success. It is important we have everyone's input to achieve mutually agreeable outcomes on the land and in our communities. There are numerous engagement opportunities—from workshops to online sessions to public comment periods—that offer a chance to participate and engage in the revision process. Find out how you can be involved.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service is revising the land management plan for the Tongass National Forest. As part of this process, we are releasing the document below for public feedback. This document presents preliminary plan content and ideas being considered for the land management plan revision but is not a draft plan or proposed action. Feedback on this content will be used to develop the Draft Plan that will be released later this year.
We are also pleased to share that the proposed Species of Conservation Concern (SCC) Report and associated Proposed SCC List are available on our SCC webpage (under Key Documents). The report summarizes the scientific assessments and expert input used to identify native species for which there is demonstrated substantial concern about their long-term persistence on the Tongass. Public engagement can help highlight species that may need additional attention or identify where information gaps remain.
