Nugget Creek Trail

The Nugget Creek Trail is 2.2 miles long. It begins at Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area East Glacier Loop Trail.mi.1.5 and ends at the Vista Creek Shelter. Most of the hike is through understory vegetation. The trail climbs moderately as it approaches the Vista Creek Shelter. The original shelter was constructed by the CCC in the early 1930's. The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking, Mountain Biking

Directions

From downtown Juneau, travel north on Egan Drive to Mendenhall Loop Road. Continue straight ahead to the end of the road, which will be come Glacier Spur Road after Mendenhall Loop Road turns off to the left. Start on the Trail of Time which begins on the stairs behind Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. Take that to the East Glacier Trail, which begins to the left just past a small kettle pond. The Nugget Creek Trail continues straight up the Nugget Creek Valley after the East Glacier Loop Trail cuts right to loop out of the Nugget Creek Valley.
