Interior Columbia Basin Ecosystem Management Project (ICBEMP)

Please read this first

Until May 6, 1998 we will accept comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statements (DEISs) (released May 1997) and the Economic and Social Conditions of Communities report (released March 1998).

  • The Eastside DEIS pertains to those lands administered by the Forest Service and BLM east of the crest of the Cascade mountains in Oregon and Washington to the boundaries of Idaho, Nevada, and California.

  • The Upper Columbia River Basin DEIS pertains to those lands administered by the Forest Service and BLM west of the continental divide and within the hydrologic boundary of the Columbia River for Idaho, western Montana, western Wyoming, and portions of northern Nevada and Utah.

  • The Economic and Social Conditions of Communities report contains an analysis of communities in a 144 million acre region addressed in the Draft EISs. The analysis provides additional data on economic and social conditions and impacts based on the management alternatives presented in the Draft EISs and standardized industry category data.

June 6, 1997 the Draft EISs' Notice of Availability was published in the Federal Register. At that time the formal comment period began. The Economic and Social Conditions of Communities report was released March 5, 1998 and at that time Project leaders announced an extension to the public comment period. Comments will be accepted until May 6, 1998.

You should know that your comments, including your name and address, may be made available for public review pursuant to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and the regulations implementing NEPA (40 CFR 1506.6(f)).

If you submit your comments electronically using this form, you need not necessarily fill out the name and address blocks. Your comments will still be considered. However, if you choose to send your comments anonymously or without an address, you may have limited or no options to appeal or protest the final agency decision(s).

Should we decide to post the comments we receive electronically through this form, the comments will be posted in their entirety - including names, address, phone numbers, and email addresses - for those comments received from organizations and from individuals who represent organizations. For individuals commenting on their own behalf, your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address will not be posted, but your comment will be. Nevertheless, the names, address, phone numbers and e-mail address of individuals submitting comments may ultimately be publicly disclosed under the provisions of FOIA and regulations implementing NEPA.

Thank you for your interest in the Interior Columbia Basin Ecosystem Management Project.
