Experimental Burn Data.csv |
\Data |
Comma-delimited ASCII text file containing data on 45 experimental burns conducted in the burn chamber at the Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory. Data includes fuel loads, moisture levels, flame lengths, rate of spread, consumptions, radiant and total heat flux, and more. |
Mast fuel thermocouple depths and naming.csv |
\Data |
Comma-delimited ASCII text
file containing the settings of thermocouples for the smoldering tests, the naming of spreadsheets for data collection, and the burn conditions under
which the tests were conducted for the MASTIDON project. The data result from burns with wet duff, dry duff, or bare soil (sand). This table explains the setup and data organization of these burns. |
Smoldering moistures for duff.csv |
\Data |
Comma-delimited ASCII text file containing data obtained from the preparation of duff for the smoldering tests. |
Smoldering test fuel loadings.csv |
\Data |
Comma-delimited ASCII text file containing the fuelbed loadings for the 48 smoldering tests run for the
MASTIDON project. |
Lookup_Folders-Key_Index.csv |
\Data\Reference |
Comma-delimited ASCII text file containing key information on how each microplot is coded for use as links in the database. It also has information on where the paper records are stored, the sample year and age of materials, the date the microplot was sorted, and who was responsible for the sorting of the microplot. |
Lookup_Locations.csv |
\Data\Reference |
Comma-delimited ASCII text file providing basic information on each site sampled in this study. It includes the mastication method, the total number of microplots analyzed for characterization of particles and chemistry, the climatic regime, age or length of time since the materials were masticated, UTM information, elevation and bearing of the plots, and laser information for local topographic changes on the landscape. |
Lookup-SizeIndex.csv |
\Data\Reference |
Comma-delimited ASCII text file containing the connection between using “h” for hour and “hr” for hour. |
*SITE* Smoldering Data Box #.csv |
\Data\Smoldering |
Comma-delimited ASCII text files (14) containing data from
the smoldering burns for the MASTIDON project. There is a file for each site, containing two to eight burns that were conducted at different duff moisture levels or on dry sand. Box # (A or B) refers to the box that each burn was set up in. The data are temperatures in degrees Celsius for each thermocouple in the burn boxes and were collected every 3 seconds during the burn. Each box had eight thermocouples spaced throughout the bed and on its surface. Box A had two surface thermocouples and six thermocouples spaced at 2 cm intervals from 0 cm to 10 cm deep. Box B had three surface thermocouples and five thermocouples spaced at 2 cm intervals from 0 cm to 8 cm deep. Because of these differences in thermocouple arrangement, individual spreadsheets were required for the two boxes. Each file contains two to eight burns that were conducted at different duff moisture levels or on dry sand. Below is a description of each of the variables included in these files. |
