Research Data Publication File Index

File Folder Description
_metadata_RDS-2018-0049.html   Metadata file in HTML format containing a description of the content, quality, and other characteristics of the data.
_metadata_RDS-2018-0049.xml   Metadata file in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format containing a description of the content, quality, and other characteristics of the data.
IMG_####_GeoRef.tif \Data Individual georeferenced TIFF images and associated files covering the three burn blocks and the surrounding fuel breaks. These files represent unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) georeferenced aerial images. The images are named with an arbitrary numbering system (#### = 0339-0344), where the lower number represents the first image acquired. Images were acquired in succession on January 14, 2015, one day before the research burns occurred and each represents a different portion of the study site (with some overlap between images).
PreFireMosaic.tif \Data TIFF file and associated files representing mosaiced individual TIFF images (0399, 0342, 0343).
CampSwiftFireExperiment2014_BurnBlockDesign.pdf \Supplements Adobe Acrobat PDF/a file containing a description of the 2014 Camp Swift Study Sites and processes used to create the burn block design.
CampSwiftFireExperiment2014_Project_Overview.pdf \Supplements Adobe Acrobat PDF/a file containing an overview of the 2014 Camp Swift Research Burns.
GroundControlPoints.txt \Supplements ASCII text file containing the latitude and longitude of ground control points used for georeferencing. These points represent the center of the fire shelters as recorded with a GEOXH GeoExplorer 6000 series Trimble - differential Global Positioning System (GPS) unit. Post-processing of GPS collected data were done in Pathfinder Office 5.4. A minimum of four satellites were required for recording GPS points found in this dataset. The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Smart Setting for position dilution of precision (PDOP), signal to noise ratio (SNR) and estimate of horizontal error (EHE) on the Trimble unit was selected for this site, requiring no adjustments of settings within the study area. Wide Area Augmentation Systems (WAAS) along with post-processing enhanced the precision of the data derived.
IMG_####.jpg \Supplements JPG images representing raw UAV recorded aerial imagery of the Camp Swift Fire Experiment 2014 study area one day before the three burn blocks were ignited. (#### = 0335-0347)
InstrumentIgnitionLocations.pdf \Supplements Geospatial PDF of instrument locations.
InstrumentSpecifications.pdf \Supplements Adobe Acrobat PDF/a file containing a list of the instruments used in this study along with their specifications, such as type, accuracy, measurements, etc.
