Tracy Ridge Hiking Trail

Wander beneath the oak trees on the 33.69 mile long Tracy Ridge Hiking Trail. Explore small groves of hemlock along the streams. Slopes along the reservoir and the eight small streams in the area are steep. Rock ledges and large boulders can be found on the steeper hillsides.

The trail begins at 2,245 feet on the flat ridgetop at Tracy Ridge Recreation Area, takes visitors through the Allegheny Naitonal Recreation Area before passing by the Allegheny Reservoir at multiple locations.

Tracy Ridge Recreation Area

One of the trailheads for this trail is located in the Tracy Ridge Recreation Area, a 65 site campground with a trailer dump station.

 

Hopewell Boat-to/Hike-to Campground

This is a small, 20-site campground located right on the reservoir. It is only accessible by hiking in or boating in. From the Johnny Cake Trailhead to Hopewell, taking the North Country National Scenic Trail, is around 2.5 miles. Using the Tracy Ridge Hiking Trail is about 6.5 miles.

 

Handsome Lake Boat-to/Hike-to Campground

This is a small, 20-site campground located right on the reservoir. It is only accessible by hiking in or boating in. From the Johnny Cake Trailhead to Handsome Lake, taking the North Country National Scenic Trail, is around 3.5 miles.
