OHV trailhead access for the ATV Trail System. The parking area is located inside Silver Lake Recreation Area, off to the right as you enter the recreation area.

At a Glance

Current Conditions: 03/31/2017: Riders are asked to use caution on trails leaving from Springhill. An active timber sale is underway that may intermittently impact the trail. Please be aware of your surroundings and comply with any trail closures you may come upon.
Operational Hours: 8am to 8pm (summer); 8am to 6pm (winter)

General Notes:

TYPES OF VEHICLES

  • LICENSED VEHICLES registered with the state, legal on public roads. Display metal license plate with serially numbered validation decal. Carry registration certificate.
  • OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLE (OHV) includes all terrain vehicles (ATVs), recreational off highway vehicles (ROVs), or off highway motorcycles (OHMs). Not registered or licensed for use on public roads. ROV DEFINITION: motorized recreational off highway vehicle 60 inches or less in width, dry weight 1,500 pounds or less, four non-highway tires, non-straddle seating, steering wheel, manufactured for recreation use by one or more persons.

TYPES OF ROADS & MOTORIZED TRAILS

  • NUMBERED ROADS are open to licensed vehicles, only. No OHVs on numbered roads, except mixed use roads. Low maintenance roads have vertical numbers on brown fiberglass posts. Higher maintenance roads have horizontal numbers on wood posts.
  • UNNUMBERED ROADS not open for motor vehicle use (licensed or unlicensed).
  • MIXED USE ROADS are open to both licensed and unlicensed vehicles.
    • In LIBERTY COUNTY, mixed use roads are marked by brown fiberglass posts, the road number (3 digits), and a jeep symbol. These are unmaintained system roads for 4x4 and ATV use during hunting season. No permit required.
    • In LEON COUNTY, parts of the OHV trail system are on numbered roads. These mixed use roads (30mph speed limit) have both licensed and unlicensed vehicles and are marked with yellow or white posts, the road number (3 digits), and a jeep symbol. Mixed use is allowed on numbered roads from one section of OHV trail to another, not the full length of the road.
  • OHV TRAILS are only in Leon County. Only OHVs allowed on OHV trails. Trails marked with yellow or white fiberglass posts and trail number (1 or 2 digits) and ATV or Motorcycle symbol. OHV Trail pass is required to ride. ATVs, ROVs, AND MOTORCYCLES on yellow OHV trails (55 miles). MOTORCYCLES only on white OHV trails (56 miles).
