Chief Mountain Trail (#58)

  
Passing through a spruce and fir forest, you soon reach treeline in just a short distance. Here, the alpine tundra begins. The last stretch of the trail offers an overlook of the Bear Creek Basin, including Mount Evans, Mount Goliath, Rogers Peak and Roslin Peak.

General Information

Directions: I-70 westbound, Idaho Springs exit #240 - Hwy 103. Go south to mile marker 18, parking is on north side of road. * The trailhead is on the south side of the road and is not well marked. Look for a trail sign on the side of the slope.
