Waldorf road- Argentine Central Railroad

  

Starting out of Georgetown go south on the Guanella Pass to the turn off for Waldorf, Forest Road # 248. This road follows the old Argentine Railroad and goes to McCellan Mountain. A high-clearance/4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. Refer to the Ranger District's motor vehicle use map (MVUM) for more information on roads in this area. Please note that the area around Santiago Mill is currently closed. Click here for more information about dispersed camping near Idaho Springs and Georgetown.

Restrictions: All vehicles must be either street-legal or registered annually through Colorado State Parks' OHV Registration Program. All motorized vehicles are restricted to open routes designated for their use. Contact your local District Office for a copy of the local Motor Vehicle Use Map.

General Information

Directions: Drive west from Denver on Interstate 70. Exit #228 at Georgetown, follow signs for Guanell Pass road. Drive past the first reservoir (Silverdale), at the second hair-pin turn turn right on the Waldorf road NFSR 248.
