Resthouse Meadows (#57)

Length: 6.3 miles ONE-WAY

Elevation: 10,426 feet - 11,454 feet

Trail Description: Begin at Echo Lake Trailhead. The first mile of the trail climbs gradually through the trees before descending another mile to Vance Creek. After crossing the creek, the trail begins to climb slowly. The forest opens up to a meadow where Lincoln Lake Fire burned in 1968. The last mile drops steeply and may be rocky.

At a Glance

Permit Info: A mandatory free self-issuing permit is required for the Mount Evans Wilderness. Free permits are available at each trailhead or entry point into the wilderness.
Usage: Light
Busiest Season: Hiking conditions are best from July through September.
Restrictions: Wilderness regulations apply in Mount Evans Wilderness:
  • Dogs must be on a hand held leash.
  • No motorized equipment or mechanized transportation.
  • Camps, campfires and stock, where allowed, at least 100 feet from water and trails.
  • Group size limited to 15 people and/or 10 pack/stock animals per party.
  • Processed weed-free feed is required for stock.
Unless seasonal restrictions are in effect, campfires must be attended at all times and cold to the touch with the bare hand before being abandoned. Collection of dead and down wood is allowed; do not break branches from standing trees for firewood.

Water: Streams; treat water for drinking.
Restroom: Practice Leave No Trace principles.

General Information

Directions: At the junction of Hwy 103 and Hwy 5, the trailhead starts in the Echo Lake Campground near the restrooms.
