Mount Evans National Recreation Trail (#51)

This section of trail starts at the Summit of Mount Evans Interpretive Site parking area. This short hike will allow you to "bag a fourteener" the easy way.

Operational Hours: 24/7 when the road is open
Fees A $10 standard ammenity fee is required for the Mount Goliath Natural Area and the Summit of Mount Evans Interpretive Site. The City of Denver charges a $5 fee for Summit Lake Park, which is part of its Denver Mountain Parks system. For visitor convenience, both passes are available for purchase at the Mount Evans Welcome Station. While the road is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (weather permitting) the fee is only required during daily hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  There is no fee for visitors who don't intend to park at one of the fee areas.

Restrictions: No camping, campfires or stove fires except in designated campgrounds or dispersed campsites. Dogs must be on leash.

General Information

Directions: I-70 westbound, Idaho Springs exit #240 - Hwy 103. Drive approx. 12 miles to the turn off for Highway 5, Mount Evans road. Proceed through the fee station and drive 3 miles south on Highway 5 to the area.
