The Lady Moon trail meanders south for just over a mile to where it junctions with the Molly Lake Trail (#991). Visitors can then take the Molly Lake Trail west for 3.8 miles to its trailhead which is located on County Road 69, Manhattan Road, 3 miles south of the Red Feather Lakes Road. Numerous game trails and logging roads can be seen along the Lady Moon Trail, and some lead to a saddle for a view above Lady Moon Lake (private land) from Forest Service land. You can find more information on the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers website. Download trail summary here.
The Lady Moon trailhead has a parking lot that can accomodate one or two horse trailers. Horse camping is allowed along Lady Moon Trail.

Directions: Travel 22 miles northwest of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287. At Livermore turn left on County Road 74E, Red Feather Lakes Road, and travel west for about 20 miles. Parking is available at the Mount Margaret trailhead on the right hand or north side of the road. The trail is accessed through an unmarked gate directly across the road from the Mount Margaret parking area.
Meadows and ponderosa pine forests make easy hiking in the Lady Moon area. You may view the lake from afar, as it is on private property. Numerous game trails and logging roads cross-cross this area. There are plans to reconfigure this and other nearby trails in 2010. See Mount Margaret trail for trailhead information.
