North Lone Pine (#953)
The trail is relatively level at the beginning then ascends along North Lone Pine Creek. It passes a Forest Service experimental station plot, crosses the stream twice, and junctions with two old logging roads near some clear cuts before skirting east of North Bald Mountain and Middle Bald Mountain. Most of the trail is in mixed forest of lodgepole pine, spruce, fir, and aspen. There are views of Red Feather Lakes and South Bald Mountain before the trail ends at Forest Road 517. Less than one half mile west on road 517, the south end of Killpecker Trail (#956) can be accessed. North Lone Pine trailhead accommodates approximately 5 vehicles.

General Information
Directions:Travel 22 miles northwest of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287 to Livermore, and turn left on County Road 74E, Red Feather Lakes Road. Continue west past the community of Red Feather onto the gravel County Road 162, Deadman Road. Travel another 4.2 miles to the trailhead parking lot on the left.

Fire Information | Check for any seasonal fire restrictions before your hike. Campfires must be at least 100 feet from water and trails. You may collect dead and down wood; do not break branches from standing trees for firewood. Please attend to campfires at all times. Touch any remaining coals with the bare hand to insure campfire is cold and dead out. Remember, if it is too hot to touch, it is too hot to leave! |
