Directions:

From the Eagar stoplight, travel south on Mountain Avenue for 1mile. Turn right (west) on School Bus Road for 0.1 mile. Turn left (south) on Water Canyon Road (FR 285) for 2.9 miles. The trailhead is on the right.

Day Hiking

The first 5 miles of the trail are strenuous—climbing about 1,500 feet—whereas the remainder of the trail is a moderate degree of difficulty. You will enjoy a wide range of views as the trail travels through piñon-juniper, ponderosa pine, spruce/fir, aspen, and high elevation meadows. This trail is an excellent opportunity to view your favorite wildlife. The trail crosses Water Canyon Creek and the North Fork of the East Fork of the Black River.
