Lake and Pond Fishing
The lake is a medium-sized body of water regularly stocked with rainbow trout by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Fishing is best here early in the season, from ice-out in March till late June, because water is drawn from the lake for irrigation purposes and the lake gets low and warm in the summer.

Viewing Wildlife
The grove of ponderosas that shelters the campground is bordered by open grasslands dotted with wildflowers. On a typical summer day, a campground host counted over 80 species of wildflowers on a short walk between the campground and the lake. This well decorated dinner table serves as a favorite feeding spot for some of the area's plentiful elk, wild turkeys, and other wildlife.
