Canyon Creek cabin was built in 1930 as a guard station where rangers could stay when they were working in this area.

General Information

Directions:

The cabin is located about 13 miles west of Melrose, Montana. From Melrose take Trapper Creek Road for about 5.5 miles.  Continue on Canyon Creek Road for approximately 7 miles.  Follow the signs to the cabin.  It is located about 1/2 mils from the turnoff.  Road conditions can be an issue.  4-wheel drive is recommended.  Winter access may require snowmobiles, cross country skis or snowshoes for 6 or more miles.  Please call ahead for specific road conditions.


General Notes:

The cabin has no electricity and no water.  Guests need to bring their own water.


Parking:

There is a small parking area at the turnoff about 1/2 mile from the cabin.

There are some nice trails in the area.  In the winter time it is advisable to have snowshoes or skis with you as the snow can be quite deep.

Snowmobiling

There are some excellent snowmobiling opportunities in the area.  At times it is the best method of transportation due to heavy snowfall.
