Gordon Reese Cabin
Gordon Reese Cabin is located near Chief Joseph Pass on the Montana-Idaho border. It was built in 2001. It is a hike-in (1/2 mile) cabin and is used as a warming hut in the winter for cross-country skiers.

General Information
Directions:From Wisdom, take highway 43 west for approximately 25 miles to the Chief Joseph Pass parking area. The cabin is accessible by hiking about a 1/2 mile from the parking area.
From Sula, travel south on highway 93 (Lewis and Clark Trail) for about 12.7 miles. Turn east on highway 43 and continue to the Chief Joseph Pass Parking area.
The cabin is located in Picnic Meadows. The easiest route is on the Continental Divide Trail. On the north end of the Chief Joseph Pass parking area you will see a locked green gate. Using the foot path around the right side of the gate, walk/ski/snowshoe to the cabin. At that point, you will find a trail branching off to the right and a green "Hut" sign pointing to the cabin. All trails are well-signed. Access to the cabin is on foot only.
General Notes:
The cabin is well-outfitted, but has no water or electricity. Solar and propane lights are available. There is a basement, main floor and upper loft. The main floor has benches, tables, a well-equipped kitchen, a propane range, a drainage sink and wood stove. The loft is the sleeping area and will sleep 6 - 8 people.
- There is no garbage service so please bring garbage bags and pack out what you pack in.
- Firewood is provided.
- There is no cell phone coverage in the area.

There are some nice hiking and mountain biking trails nearby.
Viewing Wildlife
Wildlife is abundant in the area. Moose frequent the area during the winter months, please be aware of your surroundings. Birdwatching is also very popular here.
XC Skiing/Snowshoeing
The cabin is used as a warming hut for skiers and snowshoers in the winter. There are some great trails and the area is popular amongst skiers and snowshoers.
