Wood's Cabin
We invite you to enjoy a recreational experience at the historic Woods Cabin located on the north shore of Lake Como. Large windows and deck offer an excellent view overlooking the lake and near-by scenic mountain peaks. To the west of the cabin, a short walk will take you to a trailhead that begins the seven-mile loop trail around Lake Como. You may see osprey, bald eagles, deer, moose, elk or bear. To the east of the cabin, a short walk will take you to a popular sandy beach and swimming area. On the south side of Lake Como there is a boat ramp and parking for trailers. The cabin was built in 1928 and provides "rustic" accommodations. There is a vault toilet located nearby and even though there is no electricity there are propane lamps in the cabin. It has three bedrooms, a kitchen and dining room, and a large living room that is conducive to group meetings. The overnight limit is 15 people. Parking at the cabin is restricted to 2 vehicles. Extra vehicles can park in the upper parking lot above the cabin. Four exempt vehicle day use passes are available for people staying in the cabin.
The cabin has two new wood stoves and the wood shed will be stocked with firewood. During the winter months, the road from the main Lake Como road to the Cabin is not plowed, so people may have to park at the boat launch and walk across the dam to reach the cabin. There will be no drinking water available. Lake Como is a beautiful setting in the winter time and is popular with cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and ice fishermen. There are groomed cross country ski trails on the south side of lake, taking off from the boat launch.
