Trail Highlights:
- The trail begins by crossing the creek, which was severely washed out in the spring of 2011. The trail winds through the willows, and follows the creek up through a mixture of pine and aspen forest.
- The trail continues to parallel the creek, crossing several small drainages. It reaches the Wilderness boundary about a mile up, after which it crosses the creek again.
- The trail continues to climb up the forested drainage, crossing the creek several times. It eventually comes into a series of high mountain meadows with aspen stands and outstanding wildflowers in the spring and summer months. You’ll see a unmarked trail junction on your left which is the Horse Cr Trail.
- From here the trail gets into these upper meadows, climbing steeply up to the open junction with the Highline Trail. From here there are spectacular views of the Gros Ventre Range.
Options:
- There are two junctions from this trail. The first is with the Horse Cr Trail which will climb up and over into the Horse Cr drainage. The second is with the Highline Trail which can take you either back to the Granite Cr drainage or all the way to the Cache Cr drainage.
