Trail Highlights:
- From the first junction off the Crystal Cr Trail, the trail climbs up through pine forest around several rocky outcrops. It eventually meets up with another trail heading up towards Jagg Cr. From this junction, take a left and head up the hill.
- The trail eventually levels out and comes into a large open meadow where you’ll find the junction with the Teepee Cr Trail. Take a left here to head up to Two Echo Park.
- From here, the trail follows along the edge of the meadow through pine forest, popping out here and there. It crosses over to the other side and you’ll find a signed junction for the Six Lakes Trail. There are great open views in this area and nice camping spots along the creek.
- Past this junction the trail enters the woods again and climbs up to a high saddle between Jagg Cr and the Bear Cabin Cr drainage. There are great views of both the Tetons and the Winds at this saddle. There is also not much water up here so be prepared.
- Past the saddle, the trail drops down through the huge open meadows, and it can be faint in some spots here. Just follow the drainage down and you’ll reach the junction with the Big Cow Cr Trail at Cowboy Camp.
Options:
- There are several connections you can make from this trail. The first is with the Teepee Cr Trail. A popular loop is to go in Crystal Cr Trail, head up to Jagg Cr, take the Teepee Cr Trail up and over past Two Echo park and come out by Goosewing Guard Station on the Gros Ventre Road. A shuttle is required but this is a great long day trip or overnight.
- From this trail you can reach the Six Lakes Trail, which is a spectacular place to visit and camp.
- If you take Jagg Cr all the way through, you can reach the Big Cow Cr Trail which will also lead you back down to the Gros Ventre Road. From Cowboy Camp you can also access the trail down to the Gros Ventre River Trail.
