Gallegos Canyon Trail 4

The Gallegos trail is 3.0 miles long. The trail is open for the following uses: Off Highway Vehicles (OHV), Hiking, Horsback Riding and Mountain Biking.

 

The trailhead is located on State Highway 518 near the Sipapu Ski Area. With gentle to moderate slopes, the trail is signed at the entrance. 

 

Attractions and Considerations:

There are beautiful views of the Wheeler Peak country along the way.  At an elevation of more than 10,500, Gallegos Peak also provides a spectacular view of Jicarita Peak and the Pecos Wilderness.  In the summer months this trail can be used for ATV’s, motorcycle, mountain biking and hiking.  In the winter months this trail can be use for cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
