Swan Lake Cabin

A 12 x 14-foot rustic cabin set back from the eastern tip of Swan Lake. Surrounded by spruce/birch forest and meadows with views of the lake and nearby mountains.

This cabin sleeps 6, and has a table, wood stove, splitting maul, crosscut saw, outhouse, and rowboat with oars. 

Not included: running water, electricity, mattresses or bedding, cooking utensils, or cut firewood.

Reservations: Cabin reservations can be madeup to 180 days in advance by calling 1-877-444-6777 (518-885-3639 overseas)  or visiting www.recreation.gov. Cabin reservations (check-in  & check out time) are from noon to noon.
Fees Per night prices range from $50-75 (2018 prices) depending on season. Cabin fees are based on non-peak/peak season/day. Seasons vary by cabin. A non-refundable service fee will be added to each reservation by Recreation.gov
Restrictions: Resurrection Pass Trial is closed to motorized vehicles from May 1- November 30 and will be closed to motorized vehicles during the 2010-11 winter season. Resurrection Pass Trail is closed to pack/saddle stock from April 1- June 30.

General Information


Cabin is on the lakeshore in a grassy area surrounded by spruce birch in rolling hill terrain. Cabin elevation 1,400 feet.

This cabin is in the Resurrection Pass/West Resurrection Pass and alternates between motorized and non-motoroized use annually, from December 1 through April 30, dependent on snow conditions. That is: one year, Resurrection and West Resurrection are motorized from December 1 through April 30; the following year, both units are non-motorized. The December 2008-April 2009 season is non-motorized.


Cabin is on the lakeshore in a grassy area surrounded by spruce birch in rolling hill terrain. Cabin elevation 1,400 feet.

Cabin is next to the Resurrection Pass Trail on the southeast corner of Swan Lake, 13 miles from the south trailhead (Mile 52, Sterling Highway). It is also accessible by floatplane (a 15 minute flight from Cooper Landing or a 30 minute flight from Moose Pass). Refer to USGS map, Seward C8.


Swan Lake Cabin is located on the Resurrection Pass Trail 12.8 miles from the south trailhead. It can be accessed by hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, skiing, floatplane, or snowmobile (during open seasons).
