Safety Information

The Devil’s Creek Trail passes through a hazardous avalanche zone. This route is not recommended for winter use. Winter recreationists should use the Resurrection Pass Trail for access. This trail is difficult to follow from East Creek to Resurrection Pass during/after a heavy snowfall. Winter storms and whiteouts are frequent above treeline. Trail may also be icy.

Inclement weather may cause an unexpected extension of the trip. Bring extra supplies to last 2-5 days. Bringing a personal cooking stove is recommended. Water is available in Juneau Creek. Boil surface water for 5 minutes before drinking. Bring kerosene or #1 stove oil (5 gallons lasts about 48 hours). Remember to pack out your trash. You can contact a U.S. Forest Service office to receive more detailed information on safety precautions.
