West Swan Lake Cabin

A 12 x 14-foot rustic cabin overlooking the western end of Swan Lake. Set in an open grove of cottonwoods with views of nearby mountains. Access is limited in the summer and visitation is light.

This cabin sleeps 6, and has a table, wood stove, splitting maul, crosscut saw, outhouse, and rowboat with oars. 

Not included: running water, electricity, mattresses or bedding, cooking utensils, or cut firewood.

Reservations: Cabin reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance by calling 1-877-444-6777 (518-885-3639 overseas)  or visiting www.recreation.gov. Cabin reservations (check-in  & check out time) are from noon to noon.
Fees Per night prices range from $50-60 (2018 prices) depending on season. Cabin fees are based on non-peak/peak season. Seasons vary by cabin. A non-refundable service fee will be added to each reservation by Recreation.gov
Restrictions: Resurrection Pass Trail is closed to motorized vehicles from May 1- November 30 and will be closed to motorized vehicles for the 2010-11 winter season.

General Information


In the summer this cabin is accessible by floatplane (15 minute flight from Cooper Landing or 30 minute flight from Moose Pass). There is no trail to this cabin. It is a difficult 2 mile bushwack through dense vegetation and steep terrain from the east end of Swan Lake. Winter access is by skiing of snowmobiling over the frozen surface of Swan Lake.

Big Game Hunting

Wildlife includes moose, black and brown bears, caribou, and wolves. Hunting for these species in designated seasons.
