These trails are managed by the City of Albuquerque-Open Space Division and connect with Forest Service Trails in the Sandia foothills. Please refer to the General Information section below.

Fees There is a small fee to park your car at Elena Gallegos Picnic Area. ($1.00 on weekdays and $2.00 on weekends - please pay at the guard shack).
  • If you recreate in the Sandias or other national lands, outside of City Open Space, on a regular basis, you might consider purchasing one of the America the Beautiful Passes or the Sandia Annual Pass at the locations listed below.

General Information

Directions:

Tramway Boulevard to Simms Park Road. Turn east, toward the mountains, and continue up Simms Park Road, which leads into Elena Gallegos Picnic Area. Pay your fee at the guard station and ask for a map to help you along your way.

Other access points from outside the Municipal area can be found along the Foothills Trail #05365. See the Sandia Mountain Trail Guide map below.

General Notes:

NOTE: Trails 305, 305a and 366 are inside the Elena Gallegos recreation area, and are managed by the City of Albuquerque-Open Space Division. They connect with Forest Service Trails.
