Lake Three Campground

Area Status: Closed
This area is Closed
This summer the majority of our recreation sites will be open providing a safe and enjoyable recreation experience, however, due to decreasing visitors and increasing operational costs we will be reducing and eliminating services at roughly 11 percent of the Forest’s developed recreation areas.
The Lake Three Campground is one of the 11 percent and will be closed for the 2015 camping season. This closure impacts the campground - the boat ramp will remain. Beaver Lake Campground, East Twin Lake Campground and Day Lake Campground are other Forest Service campgrounds near Lake Three. To find additonal camping opportunities in Ashland County please visit

If you are interested in a quiet campground, Lake Three Campground is for you. It offers 8 campsites in a hardwood forest on the 63-acre Lake Three. Three of the campsites have a nice overlook of the lake. Each site offers a parking spur, fire ring, picnic table, and tent pad. The campsites can accommodate RV's up to 30 feet. Drinking water, vault toilets, and a boat launch are available. The North Country National Scenic Trail is adjacent to the campground. Nearby is Springbrook, which is Class 1 brook trout stream. Lake Three has bass and panfish waiting for your line. While you're in the area, be sure to visit Morgan Falls, St. Peter's Dome, and the Penokee Overlook.
