If you are looking for a base camp to explore area trails, canoe in the glassy waters of Wabasso Lake or enjoy a rustic cozy campground, try the Wabasso Lake Recreation Area off Forest Road 142 west of Lac du Flambeau.

The Wabasso Lake Recreation Area on the Park Falls District consists of a campground with five walk/canoe-in campsites equipped with fire grills and picnic tables. Drinking water and toilets are located at the boat landing.  There are accessible Vault toilets located at the nearby Round Lake Logging Dam.

Wabasso Lake Recreation Area is located about one mile west of the Lac du Flambeau and is perfect for primitive camping. Wabasso Lake is 49-acres and has an excellent panfish population and is great for canoeing and fishing.

Did you forget something? Don’t sweat it! The small town of Lac du Flambeau can meet your camping supply needs from groceries to firewood.

So, if you like to hike, fish, swim, hike, bike, picnic or enjoy the convenience of being close to town, then The Wabasso Lake Recreation Area is the place for you, conveniently located 5 minutes west of Lac du Flambeau. Reservations: There are no reservable sites at Wabasso Lake Recreation Area. All sites are available on a first-come basis.
Fees $5 Daily Parking Fee or $20 Annual Parking Fee Individual campsite fee is $5 per vehicle Annual parking pass can be purchased from District Office for $20. Interagency Pass discounts apply only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fee or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party

Restrictions: Campsite Capacity
  • Maximum of 8 people and 4 vehicles at each camp site.
  • Vehicle capacity limit includes vehicles, wheeled camping units and trailers.
Pets and Animals
  • Pets must always be restrained or on a leash while in developed recreation areas.
  • Pets (except guide dogs) are not allowed in swimming areas.
  • Saddle or pack animals are allowed in recreation sites only where authorized by posted instructions.
Firewood Closure Order
  • Our firewood closure order prohibits the possession, storage, or transport of any firewood that originates from more than 25 miles from your campsite. Firewood certified by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Transportation and Consumer Protection can originate from more than 25 miles from National Forest destination.
  • Both certified firewood and Kiln-dried, untreated/unpainted/unstained/construction/dimensional lumber that is free of any metal or foreign substance is approved. Pallet boards are not approved.
Operation of all ATVs & UTVs are prohibited in campground.

Directions: From Lac du Flambeau travel west on Forest Road 142 for 3 miles, turn right (north) on Forest Road 514 to the campground.
