Beaver Creek Campground Has Been Converted to a day use area. Please see the Beaver Creek Day-Use Picnic Area for directions, fees, and other information.
Arkansas Deaths Trigger Review -Visitor injury and death from flooding on national forest campgrounds in other parts of the country triggered a nation-wide Forest Service review. It was determined that Beaver Creek Campground was located in a flood zone.
Flash Flood Potential -Wet Beaver Creek has potential to flood on both sides of this recreation area, cutting it off from emergency access. As recently as 1995 flood waters covered the area and caused severe damage.
Day Use is Safer Here –The Forest Service converted Beaver Creek campground to a day-use picnic area in March 2014 because of concern about visitor safety during flash flood events. Floods can occur in winter during rain on snow events and during summer thunderstorms. Limiting visitor use to daytime hours improves safety and emergency response.
The Beaver Creek Picnic Area is managed as a Fee Picnic Area by Recreation Resource Management, Inc. under a special use permit issued by the Coconino National Forest. There is an on-site host and amenities at each site including parking, picnic tables, barbeque grills and fire pits. Drinking water and restrooms are available.
For more information on Beaver Creek Picnic Area or other day use sites and campgrounds contact the Red Rock Ranger District at 928-203-2900.
