Canyon Vista Campground with view of San Francisco Peaks

Canyon Vista Campground is located near Walnut Canyon and Lower Lake Mary. This area consists of ponderosa pine, mixed conifer, aspen and oak, which offer good photo opportunities, interesting geology and views of the San Francisco Peaks.

The trailhead for Sandys Canyon Trail and the Vista Loop Trail are at the north end of the campground.

Sandys Canyon Trail provides access into Walnut Canyon and joins the Arizona Trail.

This segment of the Vista Loop Trail provides access to “The Pit” climbing area.

At a Glance

Reservations: No reservations. This campground is on a first-come, first-served basis. Open season for 2024 is May 3 to October 14.
Fees:
  • Camping: $26 per night, up to eight people with one vehicle. All 14 sites are first come sites.
  • Second vehicle per night: $8 additional.
  • Picnic/day use (10 a.m to 4 p.m.): for a fee of $8 up to 5 people.
Senior and Access Interagency passes are accepted for a 50% discount on single-site camping fees. Other Interagency passes are not accepted.

Restrictions: Quiet hours: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. (running generators not permitted during quiet hours)

Attractions: Camping, hiking, equestrian, rock climbing, sightseeing, wildlife watching, tent sites available.

Facilities: 14 single unit sites, Fire rings and cooking grills, drinking water, picnic tables, vault toilets.

  • Tents, motor homes, & trailers under 40 feet permitted
  • No utility hookups
  • Pets must always be restrained or on a leash
  • 14 day Forest stay limit
  • No horses allowed in campground

Access: Take Lake Mary Road (FH 3) 6 miles southeast. Campground is on your left.
