Rock Crossing Trail No. 18

This trail is separated into three segments due to the necessity of its crossing the reservoir twice.

  • Trail 18A is a one-half mile segment that parallels FR 751 and gradually descends to the edge of the water.
  • Trail 18B is a 1.2 mile segment from the south edge of the upper arm of the reservoir to the north edge of the lower arm of the reservoir. A clearing for dispersed camping is at the south shore.
  • Trail 18C is a one-half mile segment from the south edge of the lower arm of the reservoir to FR 139A. The uppermost segment of the trail is the most frequently used portion. (FR 751 is usually closed each winter during heavy snow season.)

  • 18A: 0.5 mile
  • 18B: 1.2 miles
  • 18C: 0.5 mile

Elevations: Beginning: 7149, Ending: 6900. High/Low Points: 7149/6700 feet.

Directions:

Location: Southeast of Flagstaff on roads that are either paved or graveled and suitable for passenger cars in most weather.

USGS Maps: Blue Ridge Reservoir

Access: From Clints Well go north on Highway 87 to FR 751 (about 4 miles, approximate milepost 295.2) and turn right (southeast). Drive about 3.6 miles to the trailhead located on the right side of the road.
