Panhandle Campground

Area Status: Closed

This campground is located 30 miles north of Newport (15 miles north of Usk) adjacent to LeClerc Road (County Road #9325). This small campground, lies next to the Pend Oreille River and is suitable for both tent and RV camping with large RV’s.  Most campsites are private and are in walking distance of the river.

  • Food and wildlife attractants must be properly stored at all times

  • Camping: 50% discount for single site camping fees, with any of these passes: Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age and Golden Access. Discount not available on double or group sites.
  • Day use: $52 Concessionaire Season Pass accepted. No other recreation passes honored.

General Information

Directions:

From Newport, WA:  Follow State Highway 20 north for 15 miles to the town of Usk. Cross the bridge over the Pend Oreille River on the east edge of town. Turn north onto LeClerc Road (County Road 9325) and follow it for 15 miles to the campground entrance.

Activities

Campground Camping

  • Tent and RV campsites available. Sites can be reserved up to six months in advance through NRRS.

RV Camping

  • Campsites are suitable for small to large RV’s.

River and Stream Fishing

  • Excellent fishing opportunities on the Pend Oreille River. Boat launch on site. Bass, trout.

Picnicking

  • Small picnic area which overlooks the Pend Oreille River.

Boating - Motorized

  • Boat launch on site which provides access to the Pend Oreille River. Excellent fishing opportunities.

Boating - Non-Motorized

  • Many opportunities for kayakers and canoeists on the river and surrounding lakes.

Swimming

  • Small beach area adjacent to the river. No lifeguard on duty.

Tubing

  • The campground boat launch provides easy access to the Pend Oreille River for both activities. 

Waterskiing

  • The campground boat launch provides easy access to the Pend Oreille River for both activities.
