Browns Lake Campground

Located on the Newport Ranger District, Browns Lake Campground lies 25 miles northeast of Newport.  This lake is nonmotorized, flyfishing only.  Located within the campground is a historical cabin believed to have been built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The trailhead for Browns Lake Trail #320 is located near the boat ramp.  

Logging in the area may impact accessability.

  • OHV use prohibited in the campground          
  • Maximum length of stay: 14 days
  • Food and wildlife attractants must be properly stored at all times
  • Non-motorized lake use only

  • Camping: 50% discount for single site camping fees, with any of these passes: Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age and Golden Access. Discount not available on double or group sites.
  • Day use: $45 Concessionaire Season Pass accepted. No other recreation passes honored.

General Information

Directions:

From Newport, WA:  Follow State Highway 20 north for 15 miles to the town of Usk. Cross the bridge over the Pend Oreille River on the east edge of town and follow the Kings Lake Road (County Road 3389) 4 miles to the junction of Forest Road 5030000 (Browns Lake). Travel north on 5030000 for 4 miles to the campground entrance.

Activities

Campground Camping

  • Eighteen (18) first come, first serve campsites located next to beautiful Browns Lake.
  • All food, beverages and other attractants including garbage must be stored in animal resistant containers.

RV Camping

  • Rustic campground suitable for smaller RV’s.

Lake and Pond Fishing

  • Great fly fishing opportunity. Non-motorized, fly fishing gear only. Cutthroat, Rainbow.

Picnicking

  • Small day use area with picnic tables. Excellent view of the lake.

Boating - Non-Motorized

  • Wonderful non-motorized opportunity for kayakers and canoeists.

Swimming

  • Easy access to the lake from the boat ramp.
