Sumac Creek Shooting Range

Sumac Creek shooting range is located in Murray County about 2 miles east Cisco, Ga, and about 15 miles north of Chatsworth.  This range features shooting benches for rifles and handgunds, a covered roof over the benches for weather protection, and a 100-yard shooting area with target intervals marked at 25, 50 and 100 yards.  Visitors must bring their own paper targets (no cans or bottles).  No skeet shooting.

Current Conditions: Pay for your activity pass at Sumac Creek with the Recreation.gov Mobile App. Log into your Recreation.gov account through the mobile app and scan the QR code at the area. Follow the on-screen instructions. If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to create one to use Scan & Pay. Please have your proof of payment available for review upon request. You may also login to Recreation.gov on your home computer to pay for the daily pass.
Operational Hours: Daylight hours.  Closed Tuesday morning until noon for cleaning.
Fees: $5.00/person/day.   Annual Permit is also available for $25.00 per shooter per year, applicable only to the purchaser.  To purchase the annual permit, visit the Conasauga Ranger District in Chatsworth, GA, or call 706-695-6736 to purchase over the phone with credit/debit.
Restrictions: Rifles and handguns only. Paper targets only.  Alcohol is not permitted on the range, in the parking lot, or on the shooting range access road. Skeet shooting not allowed. Shotguns may only be patterned.  No group facilities.
Closest Towns: The closest town is Chatsworth, Georgia, approximately 15 miles to the south.  Chatsworth has numerous restaurants, grocery stores and motels.

Information Center: Download the Recreation.gov mobile app before visiting the shooting range!  Day passes may be purchased through the Recreation.gov website prior to visiting the area or with the Scan and Pay feature through your mobile device app at the shooting range information kiosk.  Once the mobile app is downloaded to your device, phone service is not needed to purchase a pass at Sumac Creek shooting range.  Simply follow the instructions on the information kiosk.  Annual passes can be purchased through Recreation.gov or at any Chattahoochee Oconee National Forest office.

Directions:

The Sumac Creek Shooting Range is located in Murray County, GA, approximately 2 miles east of Cisco on the south side of Forest Service Road 103. From Dalton, travel east approximately 16 miles on Highway 52/76 to Chatsworth, GA. Turn north (left) at the intersection of Highway 411 and travel approximately 12 miles to Cisco. Turn east (right) on Old Georgia Highway 2 and travel 1.8 miles. Turn south (right) and proceed 0.2 miles to range.

Area has shooting benches for rifles and handguns, covered shooting shed over benches, a 10 yard shooting area with target intervals marked at 25, 50 and 100 yards.
