Locust Stake OHV Trail System

CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

All OHV trails on the national forest close during wet conditions when trail use can cause damage to trails and erosion into nearby streams.  Please contact the Chattooga River Ranger District for the latest information on trail availability due to frequent weather contingencies. 706-754-6221 ext 134

Severe erosion over time on sections of the Locust Stake OHV Trail System created serious safety concerns and damage to natural resources, resulting in the complete closure of the trail system in January 2012.

From Cornelia, GA

Take US-23 N/US-441 N for 8 miles. Turn slightly right onto GA-365 N/US-123 N (signs for GA-17 S/Toccoa/Lavonia).  In 1.9 mile turn left onto Rock Rd and drive 315 feet turn right onto Locust Stake Rd.  Locust Stake ORV Area is in 1.2 miles.

OHV Trail Riding

SUITABLE FOR - Off-road vehicles, including two, three and four-wheel vehicles, maximum width not to exceed 48". Designated trails within this trail system range from easy to most difficult. Users are required to stay on the signed trails to prevent damage to the area. Locust Stake Road is a county road. All state and local motor vehicle laws apply to this road meaning only licensed vehicles with licensed riders are allowed on this road. Maximum axle width of 48".
