Scenic Driving

Chestatee Overlook provides a scenic interlude on your travels in the central part of the Chattahoochee National Forest. A great driving loop for the day consists of Highway 60 north from Dahlonega to Highway 180 in Suches. Turn right on 180 to Lake Winfield Scott and then on to Unicoi State Park on HIghway 129. Continuing south on the 129 gives you the opportunity to stop in at Helton Creek Falls, the Appalachian Trail, and DeSoto Falls. Complete the loop by turning right on U.S. 19 where you can visit Dicks Creek Falls on your way back to Highway 60 and Dahlonega.
