Eagle Creek Overlook Group Campground

This historic site was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's as a place to view construction of the Bonneville Dam. Great for family gatherings and other group events.
Set on a bluff with sweeping views of the Columbia River and the Washington side of the Gorge, this is site is great for family gathering and group events. The group site includes a covered picnic shelter, picnic tables, campfire rings, and portable toilets. It can accommodate 90 people and about 40 cars, including trailers. There are no RV hookups on site.
Hosts will be on site. Electricity is now on site but is limited to lighting in and around the building and a couple of 120 volt outlets in the restrooms.
Noise can be an issue with I-84 nearby as well as railroad tracks.

General Information
Directions:From Portland, OR: Travel east on Interstate 84 approximately 41 miles and take exit #41. At the end of the off ramp turn, left at the stop sign. Follow the paved road under the freeway to the campground entrance and gate.
From Cascade Locks, OR: Travel west on Interstate 84 approximately 3 miles and take exit #40, Bonneville Dam (exit #41 has no westbound exit). Turn left at the stop sign at the end of the off ramp and left again onto the eastbound freeway entrance. Travel east on Interstate 84 to exit #41. At the end of the off ramp turn, left at the stop sign. Follow the paved road under the freeway to the campground entrance and gate.

River and Stream Fishing
Fishing at this site is only available to those registered at the campsite. Fishing for salmon and trout.
Day Hiking
This campground is adjacent to the Eagle Creek Day Use Area, which provides access to multiple hiking trails.
Viewing Wildlife
Eagle Creek is one of the most reliable streams in the Gorge to view spawning salmon in the late fall and winter.
Viewing Scenery
The overlook provides views of the Columbia River Gorge, as well as Bonneville Dam.
Boating - Non-Motorized
No boat ramp is available at the campground, but it is possible to walk a boat down to where Eagle Creek meets the Columbia River.
