This section of the Gorge Trail #400 "piggybacks" on other trails for much of its distance. From the Bridge of the Gods Trailhead in Cascade Locks cross the toll bridge road to find the Pacific Crest Trail. In about 1/10 of a mile, you’ll come to Moody Road as you cross under the freeway. Walk the road uphill to the right and continue straight ahead on the gravel road a short distance to twin trailheads. Take the trail to the left, which is the Pacific Crest Trail. From here follow the Pacific Crest Trail for about 4.1 miles to the junction with Herman Bridge Trail #406E and follow this trail for 1.2 miles to the Herman Creek Trail #406. Follow Herman Creek Trail #406 for 0.8 miles to the junction with Gorge Trail #400 and follow Gorge Trail #400 east for the final 3.4 miles to Wyeth Campground.
Opportunities include viewing Dry Creek Falls off the Pacific Crest Trail and creating a loop with other trails in the area to view this beautiful section of forest.
Mountain bikes are only allowed on the 3.4 miles between Wyeth Campground and Herman Creek Trail #406. No bikes are allowed on Herman Creek Trail #406, #406E or the Pacific Crest Trail #2000. Bikers will want to start from Wyeth/ Gorton Creek Trailhead (area is unavailable) and head west to access this section.
