Augspurger Trail (#4407)
Augspurger Trail shares a trailhead with Dog Mountain Trail, climbing the west slope of Dog Mountain before continuing on to Augspurger Mountain, the summit looming to the north. It features rock screes, old growth forest, and occasional panoramic views of the Columbia River as it meanders past Wind Mountain to the west.
This trail makes a great loop hike if you follow the first 2.8 miles to the junction with Dog-Augspurger Tie Trail, then continue 1.5 miles through old growth forest until you reach a wildflower meadow where it meets up with Dog Mountain Trail.
Alternatively, you could hike out and back on Augspurger Trail for another 4 miles north past this junction, where it ends at a gravel pit.

General Information
Directions:From Stevenson, WA: Travel east on Washington State Route 14 for 10 miles. Trailhead parking is available at milepost 53.7...look for the Dog Mountain Trailhead sign.
From Portland, OR: Travel east on Interstate 84 to Cascade Locks exit #44. Follow the off ramp under the interstate and take the first right to the Bridge of the Gods across the Columbia River. At the stop sign, turn right (east) on Washington State Route 14 and travel 12 miles. At milepost 53.7 there is a large sign for the Dog Mountain Trailhead. Park in the pullout on the left.
