Operational Hours: The trails are groomed weekly by the Forest Service usually on Thursdays or Fridays. No snowshoes, dogs or dog sledding are allowed on the groomed trails.  Snowshoers may walk beside the groomed trail. For grooming report call Ashton Ranger Station: (208) 652-7442
Fees Park N' Ski permit is required.  Annual Pass: $25
Three-day permit:  $7.50
 
Where does the money go?  Revenues for the sales of these permits go back directly toward trail improvements, plowing parking lots and grooming trails.

General Information

Directions:

Take U.S. Highway 20 north from Ashton, ID ~ 25 miles to the Island Park Ranger Station.  The parking lot at the Ranger Station is a Park N' Ski Permit area.  The Buffalo Loop begins at this parking lot.  There is also a small Park N' Ski parking area just north across the bridge on the left hand side of U.S. Highway 20.  If you just want to ski the Brimstone Trails the Park N' Ski area is on the other side of the Island Park Dam, take the Island Park Dam Road just north of Ponds Lodge on the left hand side of U.S. Highway 20 down ~ 1 1/2 miles across the dam.  The parking is on the left hand side of the road.
