General Information
Directions:From Ashton, ID, head east out of Ashton on ID-47 (Mesa Falls Scenice Byway). Turn left at the Lower Mesa Falls Overlook and the campground is to the left with the parking to the overlook to the right. The Lower Mesa Falls Parking area is approximately 14 miles east and north of Ashton, ID.
General Notes:
Harriman State Park, a wildlife refuge featuring trout fishing, trumpeter swans, elk, moose, and various waterfowl is located approximately 11 miles north on the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway. When you get to Highway 20 turn left and go 1 mile south to the entrance to Harriman State Park.
An abandoned railroad bed is utilized as a hiking/riding trail from the Bear Gulch parking lot to West Yellowstone, MT. There are access/exit point along the way.
