Section 33 Sheltowee Trace Trail #100

Area Status: Open

Princess Falls

Section 33 of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail follows the Big South Fork River for 7 miles before reaching Yamacraw Bridge. Watch for side trails to Lick Creek Falls and Princess Falls, which are worth the hike.

Be prepared to ford creeks and climb boulders, as well as face a few short inclines. Footing can be precarious around boulders, so use extra caution. Be sure to follow the white diamond and turtle-shaped trail blazes, since connecting trails may be confusing.

Two miles after the trail begins you will reach Alum Ford, which has primitive restrooms, campsites, tables and grills. No treated water source is available.
